Foods to Eat to Increase Sex Drive

Who doesn’t want to have good sex?!?! This may be TMI, but when I first started to eat clean I noticed a huge difference in my sex drive. Unfortunately for me, I wasverysingle at the time. Anyways, the change was so significant that I began to research if it had anything to do with my changing eating habits, and lo and behold, there was in fact a correlation! Below is what I learned, along with a sample meal plan to get your body revved up before a special night.

The key is to eat clean, particularly foods that decrease inflammation and support blood flow, especially to our special areas ;). By doing this, there is an increase in arousal, making it easier for us ladies to orgasm and for men to become erect. Further, eating foods that actually produce sex hormones and relax us play a big part in getting us in the mood.

Spinach is high in magnesium, which does just this. The magnesium dilates our blood vessels, which increases blood flow
Strawberries are rich in antioxidants and vitamin C, both of which support blood circulation, plus they’re low in sugar to help satisfy your sweet tooth
Dark chocolate increases both serotonin and dopamine levels in our brain, naturally boosting our mood, making us happy and decreasing stress. Further, it also helps us build desire
Fatty fish, such as salmon, are high in omega-3 fatty acids, which support circulation, lower blood pressure and raise dopamine levels in the brain (our mood boosters). Plus, it’s great for our skin, so might as well get that glow on before getting it on
Bananas are high in potassium. Most of us know to go to bananas for their potassium to help reduce bloat, but do you know why this is? The high concentration of potassium counteracts the effect of sodium, which is not only one of the reasons as to why we bloat, but it also makes it harder for blood flow to reach our sexy parts. Additionally, bananas have bromelain, which helps produce testosterone – bring on the bananas!
Almonds contain zinc, which helps produce sex hormones, meaning an increase in zinc can help boost libido
Avocados are rich in vitamin B6 and folic acid, which increase energy. Further, vitamin B6 helps regulate prolactin, a libido enhancer. It also has vitamin E and potassium, which helps regulate blood flow and supports circulation
Chickpeas are high in vitamin B6, which in addition to the benefits listed above, also helps keep estrogen levels in check
Peppers, especially hot peppers, not only rev up your metabolism, but they also stimulate endorphins, aka, they get you going. Red bell peppers contain high amounts of vitamin C, which not only supports blood circulation, but is also known to increase libido
Garlic is high in allicin, which stimulates blood flow and makes everything extra sensitive to touch
Pomegranates are packed with antioxidants, which again, support blood flow. Additionally, they increase testosterone levels, boost mood and reduce stress
Pumpkin seeds contain zinc, to naturally boost testosterone. Additionally, they are a good source for antioxidants, iron, magnesium and more, all of which helps with blood circulation
Pine nuts are also high in zinc – it’s been said that those with higher levels of zinc in their system have a higher sex drive than those with low levels, so why not try to get on the high end?
Oysters are well known to be aphrodisiacs, but do you know why? It’s because of their level of zinc, elevating testosterone, as well containing amino acids d-aspartic and N-methyl-D-aspartate, which have been found to increase sex hormones
Sweet potatoes are rich in potassium, which we know is great, in addition to also being rich in beta-carotene, which helps relax blood vessels and boost libido
Red wine helps naturally relax you, decreasing inhibitions. As always, it is important not to drink too much, but a glass or two with dinner is perfect for setting the mood

Given all of these foods, I have come up with a 3-day meal plan to help get you in the mood. If on top of this, you can include a 30-minute workout each day, you’ll be on track to have an unbelievable time! As you may know, working out naturally releases endorphins, which has been shown to increase sexual arousal and orgasm. The combination of this menu, along with exercise is a guarantee to get you going!
